TLC Facilities

TLC north campus location
The Teaching & Learning Center is located in 212 Capen Hall, on the second floor of the Undergraduate Library. The Center facilities include a TLC classroom, a conference room, an informal meeting area, workstations and wi-fi access. Specialized task stations support multi-format scanning, printing, and audio and video digitization.

TLC maintains a full suite of graphic, media, web authoring & productivity applications. Our software runs on PC and Macintosh work stations.

TLC work areas are available for faculty and staff use during regular open hours. We recommend reserving specialized task stations in advance. The TLC classroom and conference room are available by reservation only; please call 645-7700 x0 or send e-mail requests to ubtlc@buffalo.edu (webform) .

Facilities' Usage Policy

TLC Workstations

The TLC classroom and conference room can be reserved for programs that support the integration of technology into the teaching and learning process. TLC facilities are to be used primarily for meetings and presentations to faculty, librarians, teaching assistants, adjuncts, lecturers, and IT support staff. It is not available for undergraduate or graduate courses on a regular basis. Limited use of the TLC facilities for student instruction is available if needed for student information literacy instruction, or when other campus rooms are unavailable or inadequate. Requests for such exceptions should be directed to the TLC Director.

Classroom

The TLC classroom is equipped with a computerized teaching station, ceiling-mounted projector, projection screen, Wolf visualizer, and VCR. The teaching station utilizes a Crestron control panel to toggle between PC, MAC and portable computers and peripheral devices. Windows, Macintosh and Linux operating systems are available on the teaching station.

The classroom accommodates twenty PC workstations (including one handicapped-accessible position) and wireless connectivity to laptop or hand-held computers. The TLC classroom can be reserved for instruction that supports the integration of technology into the teaching and learning process. The classroom's primary purpose is for instructional presentations to faculty, librarians, teaching assistants, adjuncts, lecturers, and IT support staff. It is not available for undergraduate or graduate courses on a regular basis. Limited use of the TLC classroom for student instruction is available if the room is needed for student information literacy instruction, or when other campus classrooms are unavailable or inadequate. Requests for such exceptions should be directed to the TLC Director.

Conference room

Our conference room provides a flexible, multipurpose meeting space for TLC staff and clients. The glass-walled room is equipped with digital projection, wireless access to Internet connectivity, and a SmartBoard. Furnishing arrangement is adaptable to a variety of meeting and presentation set-ups.

The TLC conference room is available to UB faculty and staff for meetings, demonstrations, or presentations. Priority for room use is given to programs that support the integration of technology into the teaching and learning process.
